“God Just Be God’n”: Amid Intense Rivalry, Claressa Shields Reacts to Alycia Baumgardner Confrontation in Flight

Alycia Baumgardner, the undisputed super featherweight world champion, unexpectedly called out Claressa Shields. She proclaimed that she would fight and defeat her at any weight class. Shields, who goes by the moniker of ‘GWOAT’, responded ruthlessly. She asserted that she would easily handle Baumgardner in the ring.

Surprisingly, the call-out came despite the two being friends throughout their careers and having a significant six-weight-class difference. While Shields has been campaigning at 160 pounds for the past 18 months, Baumgardner wants her to meet halfway at the 147-pound welterweight class, a challenge Shields confidently accepted. And now they’ve engaged in some back-and-forth trash-talking after they shared the same flight.

Claressa Shields slams Alycia Baumgardner for calling her out

It all started with Alycia Baumgardner putting up an Instagram Story as she spotted her friend-turned-foe Claressa Shields on the same flight as her. So Baumgardner started making fun of the 2x undisputed champion and then, in the end, Shields screamed, “Stop!” In her Story, Baumgardner wrote, “Not her following me @claressashields. She really don’t want it.”

Well, this had to force Shields to respond, so she did it on X. In the first post, she added her Story and pointed out that Baumgardner is the one who’s recording her, and not the other way around. So, she took this recording as a free promotion.

She then followed it up with another post, where she again stated that Alycia Baumgardner had to tell everybody that they were on the same plane.

In her next post, she talked about how she could only laugh at her Story, and she had been craving for a good laugh before this video.

Then she stated that it was one of the best things she had ever said on camera.

She even quoted herself in the post and called it the “sexiest thing” all around the world.

So, the beef between Claressa Shields and Alycia Baumgardner is only getting heated with time. Especially since Baumgardner has stated that she’s always wanted to square off against Shields at 140 pounds.
