15 years ago, Manny Pacquiao made a huge leap of 17 pounds to compete against Oscar De La Hoya and as a result, pushed ‘The Golden Boy’ to his retirement. Now, the fans are expecting the same from the Japanese rising star, Naoya Inoue against Gervonta Davis. Currently, Inoue has become the 4-division champion after he defeated Stephen Fulton and grabbed the WBC and WBO Super Bantamweight titles from him. After the bout, Inoue had a little face-off with Marlon Tapales and evidently, wants to snatch the Undisputed crown in the division.

But boxing fans want to see him fight some big names in the sport. Well, that wouldn’t happen at the Super Bantamweight or even Super Featherweight division for that matter. So, the world wants him to gain 13 pounds and face Gervonta Davis at 135 lbs. Davis has recently handed over Ryan Garcia, the first defeat of his career. IFL TV asked the boxing fans their opinions about this dream match-up via their Twitter Post.

Not only fans, even Showtime Sports president, Stephen Espinoza, has voiced his interest in seeing ‘The Monster’ go against ‘Tank’. While speaking to FightHype.com, he said, “It’s only 13 more pounds“. He said this because Inoue has gained a lot of weight already, so moving up a bit more may get him great fights in his career. In quite a short amount of time, Inoue has gained a lot of attention in the world of boxing. The legend, Mike Tyson has also praised the Japanese boxer for his impeccable skills.

Nonetheless, Espinoza also said, “It’s intriguing. I would love to see Inoue and Tank. And after performance yesterday, I wouldn’t put anything out of his reach.” So Espinoza isn’t sure yet if Davis would be able to take Inoue.

Fans weigh in regarding the potential Gervonta Davis vs. Naoya Inoue

The fans are in awe about this ‘dream fight’, as the prospects of this bout happening are realistic. Some found this to be ridiculous whereas others think differently.

One of the fans, Séan allen, pointed out the essence of this bout, and related Gervonta Davis to a “street fighter” while Naoya Inoue to a “ring fighter”.

Another fan, Explosive Giant, gave his reason for picking a winner. They even called out Tank for not being as “slick” as Inoue.

On the other hand, one fan, Keith Donovan, picked ‘Tank’ as the winner, mainly because of the weight advantage.

Now, contrary to all these users, some fans didn’t think that this bout could ever happen or is feasible.

A user named Rick Ramos diverted from the topic and stated that Davis should be asked to fight Terence Crawford at 143 lbs.

A fan, Benji, mockingly asked how many divisions will Inoue have to skip before he can reach the 135 lbs mark.

On a similar note, McLovin wrote how silly it is to make fighters of two different weight classes fight each other.
