Gervonta Davis vanquished the unbeaten Mario Barrios to claim the WBA super lightweight title via stoppage. Now, a three-division champion, ‘Tank’ is 25-0 as a professional pugilist and can aim to defend his belts in multiple weight classes.
That said, Davis beat several odds tonight to walk out undefeated. Although Barrios tested him to the core, Davis’ impeccable power and pace became too much to handle for ‘El Azteca’. Barrios absorbed some of the most brutal shots in the fight and offered the same from his end. However, it didn’t work out well for him.

While the concluding rounds saw him get curbed, Mario Barrios expressed his interest in continuing the fight. However, as Gervonta Davis had already planted his best shots, ‘El Azteca’ had nothing left to offer. So the referee rightly intervened and called off the fight.

Mario Barrios could successfully go deep with Davis inside the ring. He even had his moments where he battered Davis. Besides, Barrios also used his reach in round eight and hit Gervonta Davis with some nasty shots. However ‘Tank’ was in no mood to quit. He made a few adjustments and returned stronger into the mix.

Gervonta Davis also seemed hungrier as the fight went deeper. He threw the punches with bad intentions and devastated ‘El Azteca’.
Meanwhile, the Texas native fell short in the second last round. With just a few seconds remaining, Davis scored back-to-back knockdowns.
