“A lot of sh*t built up lot built up and I’m going take it out on him,” Gervonta Davis boldly declared in the kickoff press conference ahead of his fight against Frank Martin. And boy, did he deliver! After a sluggish start which he attributed to being “rusty”, the ferocious Davis walked down Martin in the ring, wearing him down with his power punches. Eventually, in the eighth round, ‘Tank’ delivered on his promise. A brutal uppercut and a left cross-finisher sent Martin crashing down onto the canvas. With this win, the knockout artist has notched up a total of 28 KOs in thirty fights. Moreover, he is in a prime position to conquer the lightweight division.
If the WBA lightweight champion is looking to unify his lightweight belts, he could face two potential opponents: WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, and IBF lightweight title holder Vasyl Lomachenko. Interestingly, Davis has given his verdict on the outcome of a fight with one of the fighters.

In the post-match conference of the Frank Martin fight, Gervonta Davis appeared almost nonchalant, giving the impression that the undefeated 21-0 boxer Shakur Stevenson wasn’t a serious threat. After successfully finishing off Frank Martin, Davis predicted the outcome of the fight with Stevenson. “You know how it would go, everybody in this room knows how it would go,” Davis proclaimed, possibly insinuating that a knockout could be a foregone conclusion.

Although, ‘Tank’ has not ruled out the possibility of meeting Stevenson in the ring. “I guess it would be good for the sport if we fight,” he said. Stevenson is an extremely cautious and defensive boxer. With 10 KOs in 21 fights, his knockout ratio stands nowhere near that of Davis. His calculated approach to boxing means that boxing fans might not be willing to see another snooze fest like the Los Santos fight. This might be one of the reasons that Davis might turn down an offer to fight Stevenson.

It must be pointed out that Davis has not given a clear indication of his next target. With blockbuster performances, he is proving to be a major PPV draw. Talking about pay-per-view, is anybody up for a Garcia vs Davis rematch?
Ryan Garcia made headlines during the Davis vs Martin fight
Nothing is set in stone with Ryan Garcia. His erratic behavior has confused the fans to no end. Ringside during Davis’ match against Martin, he wore a “rematch me b**ch” t-shirt. Shockingly, though, he flip-flopped when Davis was declared the winner. ‘King Ry’ got into the ring immediately after the victory and congratulated the WBA lightweight champion. He embraced Tank and even showed him the t-shirt he was wearing. Funnily, the t-shirt also had “Tank’s #1 Fan” written on it.

A seventh-round brutal liver shot by Davis in his previous outing ended Garcia’s unbeaten run in his boxing career. However, the fight did have certain stipulations that tainted the emphatic win. For starters, Garcia was extremely weight-drained because of the rehydration clause that was inserted into their fight contract. Furthermore, the 25-year-old claimed that he came into the Davis fight with a rib injury. For all the above reasons, many boxing fans would like Davis to run it back.
It remains to be seen if Davis will give Garcia another chance to redeem his loss. Who would you like to see Tank fight next – Garcia or Stevenson? Let us know in the comments below.
