The boxing world rejects Ryan Garcia‘s disgraceful conduct. No amount of excuses would suffice to placate the hurt his disparaging comments have caused. There’s no space for such hateful conduct in the sports world. It’s baffling how a young, upcoming star of boxing has reached this point when just a year ago it appeared that along with a few names he was pushing the boundaries of boxing.
Ryan Garcia was already under a year suspension with financial forfeiture due to his failure to clear drug tests. As if that was now enough for him, he entered a new problem zone by going on rant, found universally objectionable and hence rejected. There was no way such a behavior could have been allowed to go without any repercussions. WBC quickly removed his name from its membership rolls. Stephen A. Smith believes there could be a reason for Ryan Garcia following the perilous route. Is Gervonta Davis listening?
The road to ruin began with a loss

Speaking on his own show, ‘The Stephen A. Smith’ show, the celebrated NBA analyst suggested that one of the reasons that might have led ‘KingRy’ to venture down the road of harm could be the first professional loss he suffered at the hands of bête noire, ‘Tank’ Davis.

It was a fight everyone who ever swore by boxing wanted to see. The two rising stars of the lightweight division finally met at the T-Mobile Arena on April 22 last year. Garcia went down in round 2. Though he showed some promise thereafter, he had no answers to the Baltimorean’s vicious body shots and finally paid up by going down on his knee.
But Stephen A. Smith believes that the loss damaged the Californian in more than one way. Even though there was no reason for him to be embarrassed about the loss, he felt deeply shameful. “It was a good fight; he got caught and got dropped, got right back up, went back to fight Gervonta Davis, and not only did he do that, but you know you get caught by a body shot that happens,” said Smith.
But sadly, he struggled to accept the reality. The loss he suffered was nowhere near how Frank Martin went down. He failed to honor the contract for the Haney fight, came 3 pounds heavier, and then returned positive results for two drug tests. However, the fact remains that fans would always remember the fight for the way Devin Haney went down, Stephen A. Smith stressed.
However, what he’s going through in his mind doesn’t allow for any space to behave badly. In fact, Smith suggested that perhaps if Ryan Garcia had won the ‘Tank’ Davis fight, then the situation could have been different. How?

Because “I think we’re seeing a brother that’s at the top of the heat in the fight game that’s absolutely box office, and we’d be talking about who he’s going to fight next,” he said. But in the end, no one runs away from the truth. He lost the battle. Now it’s increasingly becoming clear that he needs some help.
In no uncertain terms, Stephen A. Smith pointed out that ‘KingRy’ would definitely benefit from some help since “he does seem mentally warped, and alcohol and drugs are what people are alluding to is involved.” Given what he uttered, there’s no way anyone would take his side.
“You ain’t getting any sympathy today not with the sh*t you said in that video maybe another day but not today,” the famous television personality said. It would be difficult to gauge as to how many fans and followers would agree with Stephen A. Smith’s contention. However, most would unanimously agree with the unacceptable nature of conduct displayed by Ryan Garcia. Let’s hope boxing doesn’t have to see such instances again.
