For the longest time, five-time world champion, Gervonta Davis, was boxing superstar. Floyd Mayweather Jr’s, blue-eyed boy. And has been promoted by Mayweather Promotions for the majority of his career. However, it seems like Davis’ long association with Mayweather and his promotional company has come to an end. In fact, he recently opened up about the same during a press conference.

Davis is currently set to face Hector Garcia at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. on January 7, 2023. Moreover, the fight will see him defend his WBA (Regular) lightweight title.
Meanwhile, he was at the presser for this upcoming fight. At the event, he was interviewed by FightHype, who asked him about leaving Mayweather Promotions.
Gervonta Davis opens up about leaving Mayweather Promotions
Gervonta Davis had a few choice words to say about his time with Mayweather Promotions and also about leaving the company. He responded by saying, “I’m on my own type of joint. But much love to Mayweather Promotions you know what I mean. Leonard, Floyd, all them guys. I definitely appreciate you coming you know.”
He further added, “I’m just doing my own thing. Not sad, in the future, we can work together and everything like that. I’m coming, get my own passions.”
Davis also mentioned that Mayweather did all he could for him. But, he has to focus on making it on his own henceforth.

This statement came at a time when Matchroom Boxing’s main man, Eddie Hearn, contacted Davis with a USD 10 million offer.

This is dangerous for him because he’s very short so I see why Floyd needed him to stay but either way he still will remain a top fighter but would had been perfect behind Floyd. Look at haney he still has Sr behind him.
