In a highly anticipated bout that had been years in the making, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia finally clashed in front of a sold-out crowd in Las Vegas. Davis would eventually emerge victorious, delivering a powerful straight left hand to Garcia’s body, causing a delayed reaction and ultimately leading to a seventh-round stoppage.

‘Tank’s’ impressive performance solidified his position as one of boxing’s most exciting and popular fighters, and he proudly declared himself the new ‘face of the sport’. Moreover, ahead of the 7th round, he was certainly more than confident that his opponent had nothing on him. This was only proved after a video of his conversation with Floyd Mayweather Jr. before the 7th round went viral online.

In the video, Mayweather can be seen asking ‘Tank’ if Garcia was hurting or affecting his game plan in any manner. However, Davis would fit reply with just one word to confirm that he had the upper hand heading into the 7th round. “Tank, tell me about him. What he got?!” asked Mayweather to which Davis replied, “Nothing“.

This was not all, as the undefeated boxer also shared the video and reacted with a luging emoji. The bout saw a pivotal moment in the second round when Garcia aggressively attacked Davis, aiming to unleash his signature power left hook. However, Davis quickly adapted, dodging Garcia’s punch and retaliating with a powerful left hook of his own. This resulted in the first knockdown of the fight. From that point on, Garcia appeared less aggressive, offering ‘Tank’ more respect and struggling to regain control. Eventually, ‘KingRy’ would succumb to the body shot in the seventh round.

Moreover, he was also accused of being a “mole” in Garcia’s camp, sharing information with Davis’s team. However, despite this, Garcia did not use this as an excuse for his loss. Regardless of the controversy surrounding the lead-up to the fight, Garcia’s attitude and determination will play a crucial role in shaping his future in the sport as he now looks to move on from his first professional loss.
