Gervonta Davis will defend the WBA (Regular) lightweight title against Leo Santa Cruz and will look to get his hands on the WBA super featherweight title on October 31 in San Antonio, Texas.

Davis is coming off a spectacular unanimous decision win over top-prospect Yuriorkis Gamboa where he captured the lightweight strap. Ahead of his featherweight return, boxing fans are skeptical about Davis making weight for his much-anticipated showdown.

Earlier, Davis missed weight against Gamboa in his lightweight debut and had to make weight in his second attempt. Moreover, having competed at the featherweight division, Davis was criticized for his unprofessionalism in making weight for a championship bout.

Gervonta Davis takes on Leo Santa Cruz on Oct. 31 in San Antonio

In a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions which managed Gervonta Davis stated that Tank is well aware of the implication of not making weight come Oct.31.

“Tank’s weight has been blown out of proportion. He’s missed weight, OK. It’s unfortunate, but he understands the severity of how important it is to be a professional in making weight. He understands what’s at stake.”

Speaking about the increasing concern about making weight ahead of the epic clash, Tank looked in great spirit and promised boxing fans that come fight night, he is going to make sure he steps on the weighing scale at or below the 130-pound limit.

“I want to put on a great performance, I want to make weight the first time,” Davis told Showtime’s  All The Smoke“I don’t think it’s going to be a hard time for me making weight.

It will be exciting to see two of the best battle it out inside the ring in less than a week.
