Like Vasyl Lomachenko, it is a big night for George Kambosos Jr. too. A fight that could either break his career or get another world championship belt. Whatever the result, it is highly anticipated that the former unified lightweight champion will enter the ring in panache.

The 30-year-old is infamous for his use of an excerpt from a speech featured in the American classic movie, 300. Additionally, he leaves no chance to represent the culture of his origin before he takes to the ring. Born to parents of Greek descent, Kambosos was born and raised in Australia. The historical movie is based on the Greco-Persian wars’ legendary ‘Battle of Thermopylae.’
One line from the speech reads, “This is where we fight. This is where they die. Earn these shields, boys. Remember this day, men, for it will be yours for all time.” The fighter’s entrance is usually done on such a premise. It includes the speech made by the film’s protagonist, King Leonidas of Sparta. From this lens, and the movie being the theme of it all, his career is now a Colosseum as he inches closer to his grand ambition: domination of the lightweight division.
Beyond the motivational speech, Kambosos also charges into the ring to well-known hip-hop anthems.

In 2020, the Aussie fighter fought Lee Shelby at the The SSE Arena in Wembley, a fight that he won through a split decision. His team described his entry as “Spartan” as it uploaded glimpses from it on his YouTube channel. Spartans were Greek warriors who were trained to be so since their birth. Kambosos made his ring walk to rapper, DMX’s 1999 track, “What’s my name.”

In June 2022, in Melbourne, Kambosos fought the first of the two undisputed clashes against Devin Haney, which he lost. For that fight, he used the 300 speech yet again. There, he made the ring walk to a track by 50 Cent, “What up gangsta.”
To redeem himself, a rematch happened in the same year in October. He lost that matchup too. However, his entry was no less powerful. He walked out to a medley of Lionel Fabert and Louis Lepine’s, “On a new level,” the 300 speech, and Limp BizKit’s Nu Metal Song, “My Way.”
