Unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. clarified his intentions of facing WBC champion Devin Haney in an undisputed clash. The champions verbally agreed to it and looked viable for an in-ring collision.

However, as that fight is still not official, it urged Kambosos Jr. to eye Vasyl Lomachenko as his next potential opponent. But he hadn’t verified a fight against former WBC Interim champion Ryan Garcia and responded to a report claiming that he is “fighting Ryan Garcia next.”

George Kambosos Jr.tweeted, “Fake rubbish site Phil, that has a fake editor that bad mouth every fighter. They have no respect for the men actually in the arena.”

 

Ryan Garcia can be an interesting opponent for George Kambosos Jr, but ‘KingRy’ will face Emmanuel Tagoe first. Therefore, there’s no way he is facing Kambosos Jr. immediately. That fight can be stored for the future if both sides continue to win.

George Kambosos Jr. is now deciding his own moves

The lightweight division is extremely deep and has several A-listed contenders. It won’t be difficult for Kambosos Jr. to find a relevant opponent for his first title defense, but he seems to have finalized Vasyl ‘Hi-Tech’ Lomachenko or ‘The Dream’ Devin Haney as the only two names on the list.

It means ‘Ferocious’ doesn’t want to have a below-average test at this point. Furthermore, he also doesn’t want to give anyone an easy ticket to the world championship.
