Right now, women’s boxing is on the rise, and Gabriela Fundora is right at the top of it. After becoming the youngest ever undisputed champion last year, she is now on the verge of another historic achievement when she will become the first woman to headline a Golden Boy event in just a few hours.
Another person who is revolutionizing women’s boxing right now is none other than Jake Paul with his MVP promotion. The promotion is pushing boundaries with the first-ever all-women’s PPV with Amanda Serrano–Katie Taylor 3 as the main event. At this moment, Paul is like a messiah for every woman’s boxer, except Claressa Shields.
A few weeks ago, their long-standing beef escalated when Nakisa Bidarian advised Shields to drop her weight class to have the “biggest payday for her life” fight against Alycia Baumgardner. The comment rubbed the self-proclaimed GWOAT the wrong way as she went on a tirade against the promotion, Jake Paul and everyone who defended them. “How you look at @MostVpromotions when they say I need them to make money! Gwoat been here before y’all even thought about women’s boxing! I’m the first to make a million! Y’all Forgot!? That’s ok. Imma remind yall!” she stated in a tweet.

Not only that, Shields even took shots at Amanda Serrano and MVP’s newest signing, Baumgardner. The MVP girls tried to defuse the situation, clarifying the comments as a misunderstanding and wishing Shields “Claressa & anyone else not part of us all the best.”

Despite their efforts, Shields doubled down and termed MVP and Jake Paul “obsessed” with her, requesting them to “leave me alone.” Amidst the chaos, Gabriela Fundora, preparing for her landmark title defense, shared her candid thoughts on Jake Paul and MVP, adding her perspective to the ongoing drama, sharply in contrast to Claressa Shields.
Jake Paul: Best for women’s boxing
Ahead of her title defense against Marilyn Badillo Amaya, FightHype’s Frankie Martinez acknowledged Sweet Poison as a women’s trailblazer. Martinez then probed Fundora about Jake Paul’s MVP and how they are leveling the playground for women. The 23-year-old nodded, “It’s growing, and I’m glad that the MVP and Jake Paul, and Amanda, they’re doing stuff like that to help give back to the females and kind of give them that platform to showcase their ability,” sharing her appreciation for the stable.

She further emphasized that this might be the most exciting time for women’s boxing fans, with the sport gaining unprecedented momentum. She dubbed The Problem Child a perfect connoisseur of the platform and stated, “I think women’s boxing is in great hands.”

However, she didn’t forget to show her appreciation to the Golden Boy head honcho, Oscar De La Hoya. Fundora’s career kicked off completely last year after signing with the Golden Boy. And since then, she has been breaking records, including becoming the Ring’s Fighter Of The Year. “I have a great promoter, and it’s just going to continue to grow,” she stated with her eyes brimming with hope.
Given everything, it seems like Claressa Shields is the only one left on one side of the fence. While Jake Paul is getting widespread appreciation from everyone, Amanda Serrano and Alycia Baumgardner are getting their biggest paychecks while making history. Is Claressa Shields right in continuing her feud with Serrano, Baumgardner, and Jake Paul? What do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below.
