Oleksandr Usyk had a run into the authorities, as the Ukrainian champion found himself in handcuffs in Poland. While the details of the circumstances remain unclear and tainted, the fans didn’t let the opportunity slide to make some comical observations. They also floated some probable but hilarious theories. Usyk, 37, was traveling through Krakow Airport along with his wife when the authorities approached him and, after a brief interaction, put him in handcuffs. His wife, Yekaterina Usyk, turned to her Instagram handle and shared the incident, and soon the clip of the heavyweight champion in handcuffs made the rounds on the news channels and internet.

It seems there was some misunderstanding that resulted in the incident. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed his anger towards the mishap concerning their national hero, saying, “I was outraged by this attitude towards our citizen and champion.” He also revealed that Usyk, at 22-0, had since been released.

Usyk then sent a message to the fans after the release, lauding the duty-bound authorities and their diligent adherence to the protocols. He wrote, “Dear Friends. A misunderstanding took place. It was quickly resolved. Thanks to all who got concerned. Thanks to Ukrainian diplomats for the efficient support. And respect to Polish Police for conducting their obligations with no regards to height, weight, reach and regalia.” The fans then flooded the comment section, as they discussed the incident and the reasons behind it.

A fan believed that they were not worried about Usyk because the champion would have outpointed and defeated the 5 officers if they had fought. They declared, “Not worried at all, he will beat them all via unanimous decision.” Despite being surrounded by officials, he appeared taller and more intimidating than all the other officers combined.

A user had a cheeky remark, as they theorized that Tyson Fury had reported Usyk for assault, resulting in the situation. They sarcastically announced, “Fury reported him for assault 😭” The comment referenced the beating that Usyk handed to the British fighter in their May encounter, where he bagged a split decision win.

Someone projected that it was a ploy to avoid the Fury rematch. They noted, “Anything to get out of the fury rematch 😂.” Notably, Usyk and Fury will run it back on December 21 with the unified title on the line.

A comment pointed out that the condition for getting released was admitting to a low-body shot that Daniel Dubois had landed on him.
