There are not a lot of movies that can captive audiences like the boxing classic Rocky. The movie written and directed by Sylvester Stallone holds an enduring place in the history of cinema as one of the most iconic sports movie franchises. Since its inception in 1976, Stallone’s portrayal of the indomitable underdog, ‘Rocky Balboa’, has inspired and entertained generations.

Now, after 47 years since the release of the first movie, Stallone has gifted fans with a precious glimpse into the past, sharing rare training footage featuring his co-star Carl Weathers, the man who brought ‘Apollo Creed’ to life.

‘Sly’ took to social media and shared a rare video of him sparring with Weathers. Moreover. the two can be seen co-ordinating their iconic fight and rehearsing how to make it as real as possible. This was not all as the pair even practiced what to do in between rounds and practiced the iconic ending of this epic fight.

This footage takes us back to the inception of the Rocky series. It also allows fans to witness the dedication and hard work that went into creating these timeless cinematic moments.

It reminds us of the enduring legacy of Rocky and the remarkable journey that brought the beloved characters to life. However, due to issues regarding movie rights, Stallone does not own any part of the franchise and has expressed his dissatisfaction with the producers.

Stallone reveals his animosity toward the producers of Rocky

In an interview with Variety, Stallone expressed his disappointment over not having any rights to the beloved series. Although the actor, was deeply involved in every aspect of the franchise, he revealed his frustration in not having any ownership stake that he could pass down to his children.

“Does it bother you guys that I’ve written every word, I’ve choreographed it, I’ve been loyal to you, I’ve promoted it, directed it and I don’t have 1% that I could leave for my children?” questioned Stallone to the producers.

The interview sheds light on Sly’s desire to secure a portion of the franchise for the benefit of his children. Having poured his heart and soul into the Rocky films, he undoubtedly feels a sense of attachment.
