After the stellar win against Robert Helenius, Anthony Joshua is all set for a potential showdown with Deontay Wilder. Moreover, there have been rampant predictions about the possible bout. Deontay Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, has also predicted the fight’s result. According to him, AJ will be setting himself up for failure. However, there’s a new entry in the discussion who doesn’t even think AJ and Wilder’s fight is going to happen.
He’s none other than former world champion Johnny Nelson. In a recent interview with iFL TV, Nelson expressed his views about the fight. According to him, the fight will not happen, and it shouldn’t happen. Moreover, he backs up his claims with reasons.

There’s no doubt that Johnny Nelson doesn’t mince words when it comes to boxing. About AJ vs. Wilder, Nelson said, “That won’t, and it shouldn’t happen next. Uh, it won’t happen next because it’s said that Eddie said that’s what he wants. Anthony Joshua said I want two or three to one, two or three fights, the number two fights this year. That ain’t gonna happen next, trust me. It’s a play with words. He said we want it next.”
When the interview asked him if Saudi hurls the money up, what will then be the future of the fight. To this Nelson replied saying, “Uh, I believe that Anthony Joshua can has to go in there to fight Wilder, 100% sure of what he’s capable of doing.”
“If he goes in there doubting himself, especially the last performance and the first two rounds of this performance, you know, it was a fighter that still wasn’t sure of what he was doing, what he wasn’t doing. Shall I shot shella? You can’t afford to be in that fight with somebody that punches like Wilder,” Nelson added.
Whether Joshua vs. Wilder will happen or not is a thing of the future. However, Joshua’s recent fight with Helenius was quite interesting.
All about Helenius vs. AJ
Anthony Joshua recently fought Robert Helenius. The bout showcased his skill and determination, which ultimately resulted in his victory. So, Joshua began the fight by working behind a jab and controlling the pace. Moreover, he didn’t try to one-up Wilder’s performance against Helenius. The early rounds were mostly a battle of jabs. Even when Helenius left Joshua with a bloody nose, he remained firmly in control.

The action was slow-paced. In round 7, Joshua landed a right hand, and Helenius slumped to the canvas. That’s when the fight ended. After the win, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn emphasized Joshua’s approach, stating, “I know everyone wants to see first, second, third round KOs, but against Helenius, he took his time and did it with one of the knockouts of the year.”
Joshua’s recent victory over Helenius is still being celebrated and is a reminder of his genius. But Johnny Nelson’s unfiltered response to the potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder puts an end to our hopes. However, as fans, we can anticipate the possibility of the bout.
