The potential fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn now entirely rests on how the former fairs in his upcoming bout against Liam Smith. However, in reality, Benn’s fight against Eubank Jr. seems like a distant dream for both of them, until the former is cleared of the allegations against him completely. Their fight, slated to happen last October itself, fell flat after Benn tested positive for a banned substance in his drug tests.
Their matchup was a result of the age-old rivalry that persists between them. It is seemingly an inheritance of the hostility their respective fathers had toward each other. Further, once Eubank’s matchup against Smith takes its course, it is highly possible that Benn vs. Eubank will be back on track. This would come in light of the National Anti-Doping Panel lifting the provisional suspension placed on Benn. A former fighter remains optimistic that the fight will indeed happen.

In a candid prediction, Conor Benn had earlier said that he does not see Chris Eubank Jr. defeating Smith. He said, “But I can’t see Eubank getting past Smith. As much as I love Eubank to win, of course, as we’ve got our own feud that we need to settle, but the damage that has been done is done. And you know it’s only going one way.”
However, much to Benn’s assumption that he won’t get the Eubank Jr. fight if the latter loses against Smith, Former Boxing champion Johnny Nelson has a contrary take on it.
⛔️ @SkyJohnnyNelson does not believe that a repeat defeat would lead to retirement for Chris Eubank Jr this weekend.

In a conversation with Boxing News+, the fighter spilled some major beans. He elaborated on how he thinks Eubank Jr.’s future in the boxing realm will progress. Holding the opinion that sooner or later, the latter will definitely fight Benn, Nelson said, “I think junior will end up fighting Conor because it’s still a big money fight. He probably ended up not getting as much as he thought he’d get initially. But I think that’s why I think, that’s the question.”
