British boxing has some exciting fights lined up. However, one match-up that triumphs over most is the fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. The two were anticipated to face each other for years. Moreover, their fight was made official and booked for the winter of last year. However, just a few weeks ahead of the contest, Benn tested positive for a banned substance in his VADA drug test.

Subsequently, Benn was barred from competing professionally, and the fight fell apart. However, that does not mean that the two will not face each other. After Eubank’s impressive win against Liam Smith, the boxing world is eager to see them dish it out inside the squared circle. But one former pro boxer is vehemently against this bout.

Former Pro on why he is disinterested to see Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn

The match-up between Eubank Jr. vs. Benn is quite intriguing, given their styles. And just to add fuel to the fire, the fight also has an element of bad blood that attracts the public, at large. However, despite these factors, former pro boxer Spence Oliver is not a fan of this match-up. Oliver is another former British boxer, who retired in the 1988. In an interview with IFL Tv, he reveals that at the outset he was inclined to see this match-up. However, that desire does not exist anymore after Benn was caught for consuming banned substances.

Reflecting on the same, he states, “I didn’t go an appetite for the fight at all. You know because I was there that was it was one of those fights that we wanted to see because it you know t was like reliving the you know Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Ben and you know I thought you know great this is Brillant Connor Ben’s most improved fighter you know in reality we didn’t think it was going to happen it was a fantasy. We thought would never happen and we was getting it and then with that with whats happened.” 

In essence, Oliver does not want to give Benn a platform against formidable and notable fighters like Eubank Jr. because of his past. Moreover, he wants there to be an equal footing. But, Benn being busted for performance-enhancing drug makes him have an unfair advantage. Along these lines, he adds, “We want a fair playing field. To Conor to clear his name, why do I want to see him go up big fights against Chris Eubank Jr. and all of that?” He vehemently claims, “Nah f*ck that. I don’t want to see that sh*t.”
