Canelo Alvarez, in his next boxing outing, will take on the WBC cruiserweight champ, Ilunga Makabu. The Mexican boxer’s move to this division shook many, as no one expected him to surge ahead this much in a weight class. However, Canelo and his team are eager to take on this challenge.
Also, since the p4p king announced his move up to this weight class, boxing journalists and fans couldn’t sustain themselves from drawing a matchup between him and Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk, for now, is the unified heavyweight king, but he was the undisputed cruiserweight champ and he very well has a hang of this weight class. That said, a matchup between him and Canelo lured many except for one fighting legend, Roy Jones Jr.

‘Captain Hook’, in a recent interview with iFL TV, said, “Actually, Usyk has no reason to come down and fight Canelo. To me, Usyk is too big for Canelo. So Usyk beats Canelo easy in my opinion. ‘The Cat’, in an interview a few days back, expressed his interest in battling the undisputed super-middleweight champ. However, he put forth a condition of keeping his heavyweight belts while he goes down to fight Canelo.
