Both heavyweights stepped inside the arena to win the fight and move on up in the division to challenge big guys and make their claim stronger of getting a title shot soon. However, Sanchez, the promising heavyweight prospect, emerged tougher and better.
The duo was originally set to go head-to-head earlier this year on January 1 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. But unfortunately, the fight could not reach fruition back then because Negron tested COVID-19 positive, which forced him to pull out of the bout.
The pre-fight favorite of the two, the 30-year-old Sanchez, last fought on Deontay Wilder’s card back in 2021. However, Wilder had lost then. Now again, he is fighting on Wilder’s undercard. This time, the boxing world is expecting ‘The Bronze Bomber’s highly anticipated return.
The eye-catching moments from the fight
The fight started on a very rhythmic note. Both fighters insisted on establishing their jab. Later, in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds, none of the two guys appeared to impose themselves. As the competition was tough and both were barely outboxing each other.
The excitement in the bout began in the 6th round when Sanchez hurt Negron for the first time. He caught the latter’s chin with his big right hand, which pushed him backward. Though Negron did not show any signs, he was hurt.
In the 7th round, unable to take a lead frustrated Negron, as he pushed Sanchez onto the floor.
The 8th round was slow, but it was the calm before the storm.

In the 9th round, Sanchez came out all guns blazing. He was more amped up as the fight was moving towards the end without any knockdowns. With feinting jabs, he finally caught Negron with the lethal right hand, which dropped the latter on the canvas.
However, hurt and tired, Negron survived it but could not escape the Cuban’s power. He again pushed towards Negron and unloaded a combination of jab-cross-hook, which forced the referee to stop the fight.
