Is Ekaterina right to keep Bivol's last name for her children's sake, or is it just spite?

Will WBA light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol be in the right frame of mind before he heads into the biggest fight of his career? On October 12, he will be stepping into the ring against Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed light-heavyweight title. Ahead of the fight, unresolved issues in his personal life are coming back to haunt him. An allegedly traumatic separation has set Bivol’s ex-wife on a crusade to seek justice.

Safe to say, there hasn’t been a smooth ending to sixteen years of marriage between Dmitry Bivol and his ex-wife, Ekaterina Bivol, which ended in divorce last year in August. In the past couple of weeks, she has put her ex-husband on blast, accusing him of non-payment of child support and domestic violence. She even put a picture of her bruised photos to support her claim.

Now, in a series of Instagram stories, she has launched a fresh salvo on Dmitry Bivol less than two weeks before his undisputed title clash with Artur Beterbiev. She stated that she would not be changing her last despite her divorce from the champion. “You need to be able to separate everything by the shelves in your head. I ain’t gonna change my last name and be with my sons under different,” she wrote in the stories.

Ekaterina Bivol pointed out that she would only change her last name if she got married again. Thus, her last name, as things stand, on Instagram would remain Bivol. “I will never change my nickname in Instagram. This is my complete moral and legal right,” she stated.

In a separate story, Ekaterina added that she isn’t bothered about the result of Dmitry Bivol’s upcoming matchup against Artur Beterbiev. “Please guys be realistic. I don’t care so much… even if he wins it won’t change my life or loses,” she stated. But, she did remind him of his responsibilities that he isn’t supposedly paying much attention to. “In any way, he must pay alimony,” she wrote.

Even though she stated that she wasn’t bothered by Dmitry Bivol’s victory or defeat in his crucial undisputed fight, in a surprising move, she did recently reveal a list of his previous injuries to his opponent, Artur Beterbiev.

In a shocking move, Dmitry Bivol’s ex-wife directed a DM to Beterbiev urging him to secure the victory against her former partner. Additionally, she also sent a detailed list of Bivol’s injuries to the unified light-heavyweight champion so that he has an edge over him in the fight.

“I want to tell you everything I know: he has a stress fracture of a vertebra in his back, all his hands have been operated on and not just once, one elbow for sure, very sore knees, his left ear is constantly swelling, it has been broken many times, and fluid has accumulated in his eye many times, sometimes he can’t see well. But the main thing is that he is a coward! We need your victory, Arthur,” the translated version of Ekaterina Bivol’s message to Artur Beterbiev read.
