Oleksandr Usyk is eagerly anticipating his shot at an undisputed heavyweight world title against Tyson Fury, with hopes set on Saudi Arabia as the battleground in February. Despite contracts being inked back in September, the initially proposed December 23 date in Riyadh may face likely postponement due to Fury’s bruised fight against Francis Ngannou that took place on October 28. The WBC champion’s near-defeat in a non-title clash has added a layer of uncertainty to the timeline.
Usyk, the holder of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO belts, remains undefeated, mirroring Fury’s record. From his training camp in Valencia, Spain, Usyk expressed optimism, revealing that the final decision on the date is expected next week. However, Fury’s promoter has assured the fans that a mega-fight will still happen on December 23 in Saudi Arabia. He confirmed that the roster of this card would surprise the fans.

Although Warren did not reveal any names for this showdown, still he didn’t miss out on creating the hype for it. He said, “There’s gonna be a big night in December. We’ll be announcing it very soon and it will be massive. You’re gonna love it, I promise you you’re gonna love it. I can’t give you all the information at the moment, but everything’s going in the right direction for something to be a historical night of boxing.”
He stated that this event will feature a lot of boxers. Warren also assures the fans that they’ll be surprised by the names of the boxers. Right after the fight against Francis Ngannou, Frank Warren had already predicted the postponement of Fury-Usyk. So now he’s trying to make it up to the fans.
The moment when Warren envisioned the postponement of the undisputed clash
After the decision of the Fury-Ngannou fight was announced, the buildup of the next fight of Tyson Fury against Oleksandr Usyk was put into action. Both fighters had to face off and were ready to conduct the undisputed clash, at the earliest. However, Frank Warren intervened at the end of the faceoff, where he talked about how this marquee bout may get postponed from December 23rd.

He said, “I don’t think the date will be announced yet, in my opinion, the best way we go. But the fight is wanted, it’s done.” He also stated that everything is ready, but only a date needs to be set. He added, “Tyson’s got a cut there, so it’s no good saying a date whilst he got that cut on the top of his head, we’ll see how that heals. But this fight is on, it’s the biggest fight in boxing.”
