Dmitry Bivol sent sparks throughout the boxing world by pulling out the biggest upset on Saturday night. The Russian broke the years-long winning streak of pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez and kept his WBA light-heavyweight title.
The 31-year-old proved wrong, those who believed that it was impossible for him to outclass Alvarez. Though this loss will always remain a scar on Alvarez’s boxing career, the staunch champion knew how to deal with it.

In the post-fight press conference, the undisputed champion came up to answer some questions. While reflecting on his loss and plans for the future, the Mexican gave a reply that made everyone laugh.
A media personnel asked him, “What will you do tomorrow?”
Alvarez entertained this query in a very casual and humorous manner. He replied, “Play golf I think.”
Notably, Alvarez is fond of golf. Whenever he gets time off from boxing, he loves playing golf. It is not only his hobby; the champ is good at it.
Canelo Alvarez and Golf: An interesting bond
The four-weight division champ came across this elite sport during the pandemic. However, it did not take him long to get into the sport. Within a limited time period, Alvarez emerged as a very good golfer.
However, he did not restrict it to his area of interest. The Champ took part in several celebrity golf tournaments, winning the Korn Ferry Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am in July 2021.
Later, he went out to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am’s Million Dollar hole-in-one event at the beginning of this year.
What’s next for Alvarez?
After getting defeated by the light-heavyweight champion, Alvarez has two options left to deal with. Either go for a rematch with Bivol, which was never a part of the script but now it is possible. As in the post-press conference, the pair did not deny the speculations of their rematch.
Bivol mentioned after the fight, “A rematch? No problem. Let’s talk about a rematch.”

Meanwhile, Alvarez also said, “Of course I [want a rematch], this doesn’t end like this.”
Other than this, Canelo can take a shot against his arch-rival and current middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.
