The WBC lightweight title fight, which is scheduled to take place this weekend, faced a major blow after Floyd Schofield was pulled out due to an illness. According to the 22-year-old’s father, Shakur Stevenson, who was set to defend his title against ‘Kid Austin’, and his team may have poisoned the undefeated boxer, which the WBC champion took issue with.
For context, Floyd Schofield Sr. claimed that SNAC and a massage therapist, who works for Shakur Stevenson, instigated getting his son ill. As expected, this accusation led Shakur Stevenson’s manager to send a firm warning to Floyd Schofield’s team about a potential defamation lawsuit, and now, it seems like the latter’s team has backtracked on their allegations in a recent X post. “
“In all due respect we cannot blame Shakur or his team. I believe Shakur wanted to really fight KID,” wrote the 22-year-old. The 18-0 boxer further added, “We wish Shakur and his team success. I hope we can fight in the near future. All things are forgiven.”

Well, Shakur Stevenson would be in a better place now that he doesn’t have to put his mind on the potential lawsuit and focus fully on the replacement opponent. Yes, despite a few days to go for the ‘Last Crescendo’ PPV, ‘Sugar’ is set to defend his title against Josh Padley, the replacement fighter, who also boasts an undefeated record.
Meanwhile, it seems like Floyd Schofield is doing well after falling ill just days away from the biggest fight of his career. His father recently shared a message on his behalf on social media.

Having created a lot of concern among boxing fans after news of his illness. Floyd Schofield Sr. recently reported that his son is in a better condition now. On an Instagram post, the patriarch of the Schofield stated, “Allah is good! Thank you to Your Excellency for taking care of my son. We are indebted to you and your staff,” from his son’s account.

But that wasn’t it. Floyd Schofield Sr. also issued an apology for not being able to get this fight to materialize. He even doubled down on his apology for accusing Stevenson of engaging in foul play that led to his son’s pullout. “I am sorry we were not able to share the ring. Hopefully in the future. We do not believe you played a part in this. We still respect you and wish you well in your up-and-coming fight,” Schofield’s father added.
