After a fallout of his earlier matchup with Rolando Romero, Gervonta Davis is now all set to go up against Mexican lightweight contender Isaac Cruz on December 5. Ahead of this Showtime pay-per-view feature, a new ‘All Access’ episode recently revealed a lesser-known fact about Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
In the Davis vs Cruz ‘All Access’ episode, ‘Tank’ Davis talked about how grateful he is to be a father to his two daughters. He suggested that his purpose in his sport now exceeds his own interests.

He then claimed that he wants to build an empire around his growth in the sport that could allow him to help his loved ones succeed in life. Gervonta Davis wants to accomplish all of this before he finally hangs up his gloves forever, which may not be very far. ‘Tank’ claimed that he does not want to spend a lot of years in this sport.

“I’m definitely grateful to have her, I’m grateful for both my daughters. My own goal is to make sure I’m okay, the people that’s around me are okay. It’s not just me no more, I’m trying to build an empire where all those can be successful by the end of my career. I don’t really want to be doing this too long,” said Gervonta Davis.
Isaac Cruz may be a tougher opponent for Gervonta Davis than Rolly Romero
Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is a 23-year-old lightweight contender and the #2 ranked IBF title contender. He faced former champion, Francisco Vargas, in his last fight in June.
This decision to replace Romero with Cruz does not really come as a surprise to fans as he was already in line for a shot against both Davis and Teofimo Lopez. He is a gritty, aggressive, and dirty fighter; the kind that Davis has yet to encounter.
This will prove to be a tough matchup for Davis as Cruz is not just another last-minute replacement to the fight.

The Mexican definitely has what it takes to trouble the best in the world; hence, it will be interesting to watch how Davis will take on such a fighter.
However, nothing is ever certain in the sport until proven otherwise. Over the years, Gervonta Davis has given the fans exactly what they want by ending 24 of his 25 fights with cold knockouts.

So, it’s going to take a lot out of Isaac Cruz to put Davis in a position where he is willing to come to terms with having a blemish on his clean record.
