During his professional career, there were not a lot of times when Floyd Mayweather Jr got seriously hurt. One thing that stood out about the former five-division world champion was his impregnable defense. His fighting style was something that was different than any other boxer at the time. And, the newer boxers can learn a lot of things from one of the best professional boxers in the world. Mayweather Jr has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest boxers in the world. And, even though it never came to it, the champ’s assistant trainer revealed the circumstance under which he would’ve to throw the towel in the fight.

Floyd Mayweather Jr’s assistant trainer, Nate Jones, recently revealed the reason he would’ve thrown the towel in for the champ and saved him. But, fortunately, it never came to that for the Mayweather team.

Nate Jones, an Olympic medalist himself, took to YouTube and posted a video revealing the condition under which he might have thrown the towel for Mayweather Jr. Jones became a part of the Mayweather team years ago. And he was an important figure at the champ’s corner throughout his career.

In the video, Jones revealed that the team never talked in terms of Mayweather getting hurt. He further added what he would’ve done if Mayweather got hurt.

He said, “If Floyd got hurt. And I see his life in danger in a situation like that. And one of the guys in the corner want to step up to the plate. I would’ve done it.”  The former Golden Gloves winner added, “It was a f*ckup situation. Of course, I would have accepted the play, stood on the apron, and announced before getting him hurt.”

Mayweather Jr has surrounded himself with a group of people who are there to assist him with everything he wants. And, Jones would have done everything in his power to stop Floyd from getting seriously injured in a fight.

And, moreover, he has a secret command for them.

As reported by The Sun, the friendship between Nate Jones and Floyd Mayweather dates back to 1996 when Jones won the golden gloves championship and met the future world champion there. When Mayweather Jr began his professional career, he brought Jones with him who remained with him throughout his career.

Jones and Mayweather Jr forged a friendship through the sport and continue to remain tight with each other. Jones came to be known as one of the best boxing trainers in the world. And, it is safe to say that he played an imperative role in Floyd Mayweather Jr’s career.
