After recently flaunting his multi-million-dollar watch collection on Instagram, the retired boxing icon has landed yet another spot on an exclusive list, further cementing his reputation as the richest boxer in history.

Just the other day, Sportico—known for its focus on the business side of sports—released its list of the highest-paid athletes in the world ever. Despite all the speculations about Mayweather’s financial standing among the public, he comfortably topped two PGA winners on the latest list. However, fell $760 million short of golfing legend Tiger Woods.

That brings us to the big question: who’s on the list, and where does Floyd Mayweather rank? Topping the chart is none other than Michael Jordan, who leads with a staggering $3 billion in career earnings. Right behind him are Tiger Woods with $1.91 billion and Cristiano Ronaldo with $1.83 billion, securing the second and third spots, respectively.

LeBron James and Lionel Messi are tied for fourth, each with $1.49 billion in total earnings. Roger Federer follows in sixth with $1.23 billion, just ahead of David Beckham’s $1.2 billion. Floyd Mayweather lands in eighth place with $1.15 billion—a figure that places him just behind the top five but ahead of many sporting legends.

Rounding out the top ten are golf icons Jack Nicklaus ($910 million) and Arnold Palmer ($885 million). While Mayweather consistently secures a spot on the all-time earnings list, Sportico has also dropped a fresh ranking of the highest-paid athletes in 2024, and this time, Mayweather’s name is obviously absent.

Six boxers are ranked on Sportico’s current highest-paid athletes in the world list

Boxing proved its enduring star power in 2024, with six fighters earning spots on Sportico’s list of the 100 highest-paid athletes in the world. Leading the charge was Tyson Fury at No. 3 with $147 million. Oleksandr Usyk followed at No. 7 with $122 million after two massive wins over Fury in Saudi Arabia. Canelo Alvarez ranked No. 20 with $73 million, thanks to victories over Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga.

Anthony Joshua earned $60 million (No. 30) from his bouts with Francis Ngannou and Daniel Dubois. Jake Paul landed at No. 52 with $48 million, boosted by his headline matchup with Mike Tyson. Rounding out the list was Japan’s Naoya Inoue at No. 81 with $42 million after two title defenses. Collectively, the six boxers pulled in $492 million, highlighting that even in a crowded sports landscape, boxing’s top names remain elite earners.
