Curmel Moton on the Gotti III card—Is this the next big thing in boxing?

Not everyone gets the opportunity to train under and be mentored by the legendary Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, a lucky few are blessed with that opportunity. One of these wonder kids is Curmel Moton, a young boxing talent out of Utah. The 18-year-old boxer, who recently fought Nikolai Buzolin on the undercard of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal, appears to have a bright future in the boxing world. Following his thumping victory, his promoter Floyd Mayweather announced that Moton would be seen inside the ring again on the undercard of his exhibition rematch with John Gotti III.

The protégé of Floyd Mayweather overcame Buzolin at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, in the second round with a brutal thrashing that forced the referee to step in and stop the fight. Soon after that, his promoter has already set a time for him to get back into action.

Gervonta Davis is without a doubt the most well-known talent to come out of Mayweather Promotions. After Davis parted ways with Mayweather, the latter must have been looking for another potential star for his promotion company, and maybe he has found one. Talking about Moton’s upcoming fight, Mayweather expressed his admiration for the boxer and revealed, “A lot of my fighters are fighting in Mexico on my undercard of my exhibition. Curmel(Moton) and (in total) 6 or 7 of my fighters I got fighting.”

Mayweather and Gotti’s first encounter in June 2023 was stopped in the sixth round. Apparently, Mayweather had stopped punching, but Gotti continued to try and hit him. People from both of their squads entered the ring as a result, and a huge brawl broke out inside the ring. It was quite a controversial bout. However, the two have decided to meet again on August 24 in an effort to settle scores once and for all.

As per Mayweather, Moton will also be on the undercard of the event set to be held in Mexico City. But his opponent has not been decided yet. When disclosing this information, Mayweather forgot the names of the other boxers he promoted. But the fact that he brought up Moton’s name suggests that the 47-year-old has a close liking for him.
