Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a boxer who has accomplished what no other boxer has. Even though the boxer is retired, he still competes in exhibition bouts, and his record remains unblemished. He has been consistently knocking down opponents inside the ring. However, he has identified who would be the next Floyd Mayweather to smash his record.

The pound-for-pound king was talking to the media, with Devin Haney standing beside him. Mayweather was appreciating ‘The Dream’, and he stated, “I’ve been knowing him for many many years. I know his father Bill for a lot of years, and my father has worked with him. The chemistry, when you working with him, you know…he’s going to be an unbelievable professional, and I want this kid to break my record.”

Haney was 16 years old at the time of this video, which was filmed 7 years ago. At 17, he made his professional debut in 2015. Even before Haney made his professional debut, Mayweather predicted he would be exceptional.

Devin Haney became the undisputed lightweight champion after his masterclass win against Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr. The 23-year-old shocked the world with his amazing performance on June 5, which took place at the Marvel Stadium in Australia.

The bout went on for an electrifying 12 rounds. Both the fighters showed excellent footwork and tactical jabs, making the fight interesting. But the fighter from San Francisco outclassed his opponent and was declared the winner. 

Following this, Mike Coppinger from ESPN put out a tweet saying Haney resembles Floyd Mayweather. He wrote, “Dare I say this is starting to resemble a vintage Mayweather performance?”

Tony Bellew, a former fighter who is now a boxing analyst and commentator, also tweeted the same message. “Haney boxing like Floyd!”
