Floyd Mayweather‘s credit for success goes heavily to his late uncle Roger Mayweather. Because, at the beginning of his career, Roger Mayweather took up the mantle to train his nephew. He trained him until early 1998, but then Floyd Mayweather Sr came out of prison in 1998 and trained his son for a couple of years. But ‘Money’ fired his own father in 2000 and in one of his statements four years later, he revealed that his father was pressurizing him to be perfect, which led to a dispute between the two.

So, after he had defeated Gregorio Vargas, he asked Uncle Roger to come back as they had great chemistry together. And then he continued to train him for most of his professional career. He was also his trainer at the time of the infamous brawl in 2006 during the Zab Judah fight.

Reportedly, Roger Mayweather’s health was deteriorating for several years, and then on March 2020, unfortunately, his uncle died. However, the cause of death wasn’t revealed. Roger Mayweather’s death left a great impact on Floyd Mayweather, and as a token of love, even to this day he always tries to stay connected with his uncle’s children.
