Gervonta Davis and Conor Benn might have missed their opportunity to fight each other. However, the duo seem to have come together on social media to roast five division champion and multi millionaire Floyd Mayweather. Despite harboring immense respect for each other, the relationship between ‘Money’ and ‘Tank’ has been tumultuous at best. But what led to Davis accusing Floyd? And what were the accusations?
Just the other day, Floyd Mayweather spoke about how some boxers are wasting their money instead of investing it. This rubbed Davis the wrong way, as he thought Mayweather was talking about him. So, Davis revealed on social media that Mayweather was stuck in Dubai because he had unpaid dues in the country. So recently, Conor Benn has joined the Mayweather bashing bandwagon on social media.

Turning to X on 26 April, Benn wrote, “OI @floydmayweather PAY YOUR JEWELLERY DEBTS YOU FRAUD.” While Mayweather hasn’t responded to Benn’s tweet yet, the same cannot be said about Gervonta Davis’ accusations. After Davis accused Mayweather of having financial issues in Dubai, Mayweather went into his video archive to look for a zesty video of Davis.

Sharing a clip of Davis dancing with a rather feminine aura, Mayweather mocked Davis by captioning the clip in his Instagram story, “we always knew he had sugar in his Tank.” Things didn’t end there! Mayweather went as far as sharing a clip of Shakur Stevenson urging Davis to fight.

The rekindled beef between Davis and Mayweather aside, Conor Benn and Davis, who have seemingly teamed up, have never actually found themselves on the same team prior to this.

Gervonta Davis is in talks to fight Frank Martin in June, but things were a lot different back in February. Fresh off his victory over Peter Dobson, Benn was looking for a big money fight and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, saw Davis as the perfect match. Davis hadn’t fought since a win over Ryan Garcia in April last year. So, Hearn quickly sent a $25 million offer Davis’ way, and he was confident Davis wouldn’t be able to refuse the deal.

But! ‘Tank’ Davis swiftly declined the offer, and when Hearn expressed his anguish about Davis’ refusal—things became obvious. Leaking the email from Hearn, Davis pointed out Hearn had only offered him $10 million plus a percentage of PPV and gate revenue. While even that offer was significant, things didn’t pan out the way Benn or Davis would have wanted and the fight was eventually scrapped.
Despite having their own differences, it seems like Conor Benn and Gervonta Davis have a common adversary at the moment. Meanwhile, how Floyd Mayweather’s situation in Dubai pans out is yet to be seen. Do you think Davis is right? Is Floyd Mayweather really running out of money in Dubai?
