YouTube sensation Jake Paul was not shy to fire shots at boxing legend Floyd Mayweather before his next fight. The former five-division champion is set to face Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers in an exhibition bout on February 25th. Moreover, this will be ‘Money’s sixth exhibition bout, previously facing the likes of Jake’s brother Logan Paul and Deji over the past couple of years.
Despite having the biggest fight of his short-lived boxing career, Logan called out ‘TBE’ for not paying him his fair share of the exhibition bout leading to a back and forth between the two. Moreover, Jake claimed that Mayweather was ‘broke’ which is why he was not paying his brother. Now, ‘The Problem Child’ has doubled down on his claims as ‘Money’ gears up for his UK debut.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT before his next fight against Tommy Fury, Paul was asked to say the first thing that came to his mind as the interviewer suggested names of popular personalities from the combat sports world. However, when the former champion’s picture was brought up, Paul was quick to take shots at him claiming that he was broke and needed to pay his taxes. “Broke…Pay your taxes” said Paul.

While the bad blood between the two might be the reason for this, Mayweather’s exhibition bout is not looking to do well financially. It has been revealed that the O2 arena is still filled with empty seats even just a couple of hours before the fight. However, with ‘Money’ now reaching the age of 46 potential high-level match-ups are not in his best interest physically. This was also a dig at Mayweather’s dispute with the IRS who claimed that he owes $22.2 million in taxes in 2015 after issuing a notice of a federal tax lien.

“We spoke to Jake Paul before and we can’t only do an exhibition because of the weight disadvantage. I can’t get to 190 pounds. If I could, I would, but I can’t, my body won’t allow it. I’m not chasing it anymore.” he said.
The 46-year-old has already competed in the sport way past his prime. Moreover, despite the decrease in competition in his latter years, Mayweather has competed at the top for over two decades. This takes an unimaginable toll on the body and the effects of it can now be felt by the former champion.
