Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. the key to Jasmine Montoya's rise in the MMA world?

From the ring to the boardroom—and now to the cage—Fighter Mayweather Jr. continues to make his mark across various domains. While his high-profile real estate ventures have been grabbing headlines, the undefeated boxing legend celebrated a significant milestone. Jasmine Montoya, the first-ever woman mixed martial artist under the TMT (The Money Team) banner, secured a victory over Jasmine Ellis at a Las Vegas-held tournament.

Leading from the front, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was at the ringside cheering for his fighter. The 47-year-old Olympic medalist stepped into the ring on August 24 to face John Gotti III. The rematch occurred nearly a year after their first bout ended in the most chaotic and controversial manner. The richest boxer in the world has been simultaneously making waves as an astute real estate investor, bagging some of the most lucrative deals in recent times.

Entertainment platform ‘clocknloaded’ highlighted Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s presence through an Instagram post. “Floyd Mayweather sat ringside to watch Jasmine Montoya’s fight against Jasmine Willis at Borroka 1 in Las Vegas—TMT’s first ever woman MMA fighter. She went on to dominate a unanimous decision,” their message read.

A clip from the fight captured the intensity of the fight. Montoya, following tactical guidance from her corner, took control of the bout. The video showed her executing a decisive ground game. It instantly drew cheers from Mayweather Jr., who watched closely as the action unfolded inside the octagon.

The third slide showed Floyd Mayweather Jr. checking whether she was doing fine or not. “Jaz! You okay?” asked the former world champion as the trainer and the rest of the corner attended to Jasmine Montoya during a break.

Records reveal that Jasmine Montoya returned to the cage nearly two years after her last fight against Amanda Macioce in Iowa. The fight didn’t turn out well for Montoya, as she lost the bout via a first-round knockout.

Although Mayweather Jr. himself has never competed in MMA, he is no stranger to crossover events. In 2017, he faced Conor McGregor, then a UF lightweight champion, for a ten-round boxing match. The fight entered records as the second-highest-grossing fight in boxing history.
