The longest-reigning featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. is of the opinion that Southpaw gun Gervonta Davis is inside the shield of Mayweather Promotions. Undoubtedly, Gervonta Davis is one of the biggest names in the lightweight division. He has been accused of moving on the footprints of undefeated Stalwart Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. Since he stepped inside the ring as the Southpaw aggressor, he was garnering accolades by thrashing opponents with lethal blows.
Gary Russell Jr. considers ‘Tank’ as his biggest rival. He believes that Floyd Mayweather and his promotion company consider Davis an asset. Further, he opens up and said that he could not compel ‘guys’ like Gervonta Davis to battle with him in the ring.

Gary Russell Jr. Said,” [I] can’t force these guys to get in the ring with me…It doesn’t make sense on a business aspect for someone who’s trying to protect their investment when it comes to a Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis [fight]. Cause it’s highly likely that he can get that ass scorched.”

According to Russell Jr., it all depends upon business contracts but makes no sense when it comes to investing in Davis. As ‘Money’ Mayweather protects him and doesn’t want to invest in fights where he thinks Davis could be thrashed.

But as the fight went deeper, Magsayo dominated it with a killer instinct and monstrous power punches. Russell’s shoulder injury really hurt his chances as his right hand was practically neutralized after 4th round. His hands had speed, but power was missing. On the other hand, undefeated Magsayo landed lethal hooks on the body and head.

Russell’s head movement and footwork were excellent, but unfortunately, he was a one-handed fighter in the final rounds. He showed a warrior spirit and took the loss with a strong mind.
