Pictures of Ryan Garcia enjoying the WNBA game between the Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the crowd have made significant news. And why shouldn’t it be so? Unfortunately, his relations with long-time promoter Oscar De La Hoya have turned sour in full public view. On top of that, he now faces a lawsuit for taking steps to break away from the contract with Golden Boy Promotions. Thus, speculations are rife over ‘KingRy’s’ next move. On his part, Floyd Mayweather Jr. can welcome the young boxer into his stable. However, as he shared during an interview, it is subject to certain conditions.

So FightHype‘s Ben Thompson met Floyd Mayweather Jr. to discuss a range of topics covering boxing. It started with the former champion and Ryan Garcia socializing. Mayweather Jr. replied that there was nothing more to the meet-up besides being a casual get-together. Garcia visited the Las Vegas residence and saw the champion’s car collection firsthand.

Thompson highlighted the rumors that followed the duo’s meeting. Mayweather Jr. clarified that he stays away from such shenanigans. He gave examples of legends like Marvelous Marvin Hagler, ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, and Tommy Hearns under the Top Rank banner. However, with a grain of salt added, “..so if I signed but I’m not looking to sign Ryan, but if you want to sign and he’s free, I’ll sign him, but if I’m not mistaken, he’s under contract, so you know you always got to make sure things are worded right before [before] you get a lawsuit or before you get a letter from a boxer’s promoter.

The conversation soon turned to subjects such as his taking on an array of world champions and how he would love managing the careers of budding boxers. Explaining how he keeps in touch with the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney, the undefeated former champion mentioned, “If [I] just quote-unquote hypothetically say if Ryan Garcia [gets] free, um, will Ryan Garcia be with Mayweather Promotions or PBC? Absolutely, it’s only if he’s free.

Fans are keenly watching for Ryan Garcia’s decision. He has joined award-winning trainer Derrick James’ gym, where his stablemates include Errol Spence Jr. and Anthony Joshua.

A ‘Tank’ to stop ‘KingRy’

Running amok with a perfect record of twenty-three wins, of which nineteen were knockouts, Ryan Garcia stood alongside other big names. However, the dream run caved in under the devastating body shots of Gervonta Davis in April. Understandably, the first career loss took a toll on the 25-year-old’s emotions. He dispatched Joe Goossen. The world then saw Garcia lash out at De La Hoya. It became a two-way street, with the latter updating his comebacks on Twitter.
