Never rile up Terence Crawford

On Friday, 50 Cent posted a Vibe headline about the incident on Instagram, backing Crawford’s explanation of the story. “I just saw it was Bud and said, 🤨this 🥷🏾could beat up everybody here if we jumped him,” he stated in the captions. The 49-year-old rapper knew Songz was intoxicated, and it would have ended badly for him. He further added, “You dumb m***r f***r what you want to fight him for. 🤷The R&B 🥷🏾’s gotta go! LOL.” He claimed that fighting against Terence Crawford for just a simple R&B game was not worth it, given how badly it could have ended. Thankfully, he stopped it from escalating and calmed the Omaha native down pretty quickly. However, this is not the first time that Cent has spoken about the altercation.

Right after the incident, 50 Cent hinted at another layer in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing, “My God 🤦‍♂️ This is true, I said Trey you want to fight Bud 😳 the 🥷🏾’s the pound for pound best fighter in the world wtf wrong with you Gang. Trey was really tripping over that girl @mulanhernandez she fine LOL,” claiming that Songz was trying to impress a girl. However, he definitely picked the wrong person to try his luck against.

While 50 Cent now laughs off the incident, Crawford’s Cigar Talk interview reveals how tense it really was and the entire reason behind it even happening.

50 Cent saved the day

During the Cigar Talk interview a few months ago, the two-division undisputed champion explained how a friendly bet heated up fast. Crawford recalled how the temper started flying after Songz challenged him during halftime of the celebrity basketball game. “He said, ‘Shot for shot, bet $100.’ So I shoot, I make it, boom. He shot, he missed, bam. I said, ‘So you got me a $100?’ He was like, ‘Bet that.’ I’m like, ‘Alright,'” he revealed.

They both made their next shots, but Songz claimed they were even since he had made the second shot.“So I’m like, ‘You still owe me $100.’ He was like ‘No, we even.’ I started laughing,” Crawford explained. However, things started turning for the worse following the game as Songz started getting on his nerves. “I don’t know if dude was drunk or something, but he just started tripping. He was like, ‘I don’t care if you the world champion. ‘I’m like, ‘Is he serious?’ I think he might be on d***s or something. I think he’s playing,” he recalled thinking.

The disrespect did not sit right with Terence Crawford, who sent a stern warning to the singer. “So I’m like, ‘Man, I’ll take you in the back and make you cry, make you scream. What is you talking about?'” Even admitting that he was ready to “choke” out the singer if not for 50 Cent’s timely intervention.

Songz dodged a major bullet that day, as nobody, not even pro boxers, want to face a furious Terence Crawford. Remember the Teofimo Lopez incident, and that was a world champion. His Cigar Talk interview revealed his seething anger, with Songz’s taunts pushing him to the edge. Without 50 Cent’s intervention, Songz risked a brutal clash with a world-class fighter.
