‘Strike while the iron is hot’ is a good way to sum up Gervonta Davis’ remarkable boxing technique. He is adept at timing the exact moment to release a lethal knockout blow. The same happened in his fight with Frank Martin. ‘The Baltimore Prodigy’ waited it out till Martin fell short of stamina and ended up winning the fight via knockout.

The boxing world is still swooning over Tank’s knockout victory over Martin, but there’s already a matchup ready for him. It would be safe to say that Davis is dominating the lightweight division of boxing. However, what happens if he goes up against Shakur Stevenson who is also a defensive fighter much like himself?

‘Tank’ will turn 30 this year on November 7th. Fun fact, he just extended his record to a stunning 30-0 with his latest victory over Martin. But what next? It has been quite some time since fans are anticipating a fight between Davis and WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

Davis was on a 14-month hiatus from boxing since his career-best knockout victory against Ryan Garcia. He made a stunning return to the boxing ring against Martin and knocked him out in the eighth round. Now there are two major prospects for Davis’ next big fight. Either it’s a fight against Stevenson or a clash with IBF lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.

A fight against any of the two will be a suitable fit for Davis. But it begs the question of who fights first with the WBA lightweight title holder. Check out what fans have to say about a possible matchup with Stevenson.

Gervonta Davis & Shakur Stevenson’s style decoded

The southpaw boxer from Newark, New Jersey stands at 21-0 with 10 knockout victories. However, he has not yet been against a fighter of Davis’ stature. While debating a potential bout between Davis and Stevenson, one fan claimed that the Baltimore native would knockout Stevenson in under 10 rounds.

While another boxing aficionado believes that ‘Tank’ is capable of beating everyone at 135lbs. Davis is a complete fighter with a powerful left hand, and he doesn’t waste his stamina in a bum rush. The fan wrote, “Hes very calculated with what he throws, where, why. He barely threw anything the first 4 rounds… he’s learned mayweathers style but with power…”

The 29-year-old fighter has cemented his status as one of the greatest lightweight boxers of his generation. Fans quickly say Gervonta Davis when asked about their favorite lightweight boxer. One fan boldly predicted that ‘Tank’ would knockout Stevenson in the first round itself.

Well, it certainly cannot be predicted who wins between Tank and Stevenson. Both have different strategies. Davis plays it light and then knocks out the opponent in one blow. While the latter has a defensive way where he brings the entire space inside the ring to his use. This gives him an advantage to land punches from different angles, and also tire the opponent. Considering both fighter’s forte, a fan predicted, “Either Shakur wins on points or Tank wins by KO”

Another fan begs to differ on Davis winning the fight. While the comments section was cluttered with opinions about Davis winning the bout, someone stated, “Shakur not gone chill in the corner waiting to get KOd Shakur wins by SD”
