Is Gervonta Davis vs. Devin Haney still happening? Well, as per Eddie Hearn’s claims, the former does not seem interested in it anymore. But what about Devin Haney? In the wake of the Chris Eubank Jr. match collapsing, Conor Benn called out Devin Haney on X for a fight and in return suggested that whoever among them won would get their hands on the “woman beating dwarf,” Davis. Now in the backdrop of these developments, popular boxing correspondent Gareth A Davies has outlined how a Conor Benn vs. Devin Haney could take place, additionally suggesting that it happen in the UK.

In response to Benn’s call for a fight, the two-division undefeated champion, Haney remarked to Boxing Voice that “Nobody gives a f*** about Conor Benn.” However, Eddie Hearn confirmed to Fight Hub TV that Haney is now eager for a fight with the Destroyer. With both fighters in talks of okaying the fight, Davies envisions the path leading to it.

Davies Welcomes Devin Haney to the UK

Through Boxing Social, the Telegraph boxing correspondent invited ‘The Dream’ to undertake a fight in the UK. Backing his invitation, he conveyed, “You really should bring Devin to the UK to fight because he’s loved and very well respected. The fans would really, really take to him.” 

Explaining that a similar suggestion was given to Deontay Wilder, Davies suggested that both fighters would thrive in the UK. He said, “I’ve told Deontay this, not that they should listen to me but, it’s a fact they would be loved over here fighting. Deontay can have five fights in a row over here. So could Devin if he wanted them.”

While a Conor Benn fight for Haney in the UK seems doubtful, given the former’s fiasco with the country’s drug body. However, when asked about how such a fight would look, Davies placed Benn as the underdog.

Davies “Loves” the idea of Benn vs. Haney

Clarifying that a fight between Benn and Haney would not be that great for the former. The veteran boxing correspondent, however, welcomes the idea of it. “I love the idea of Conor Benn coming forward and fighting the guy at welterweight as well. Devin coming up another division. Devin might see that as a fight that he would relish,” said Davies.

Davies concurred with Eddie Hearn’s assumption that the fight would sell out a stadium. However, he thinks it won’t be a licensed one. Explaining these intricacies, he noted, “I think, again, it’s a fight that sells out a stadium but I think it’ll be an unlicensed one in terms of the Boxing Board of Control. It’d be probably licensed by another authority here in the UK.”

Picking Haney as the favorite, Davies called him “matador to the bull.” With many in the boxing community rising in favor of this fight, Haney might as well give Benn a chance. Will Benn live up to the expectations of Davies? Only time will tell.
