Anthony Joshua just provided his fans with some serious nightmare fuel! The British heavyweight sensation is coming off a second-round knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou earlier this year. While there have been some talks of ‘AJ’ facing Daniel Dubois next, nothing has been confirmed quite yet. In the meantime, Joshua seems to be enjoying some downtime.

How is he doing that? Well, according to his latest Instagram post, the former unified heavyweight champion partook in some cup therapy to help him relax and recover. While it must have been a refreshing experience for him, for the fans watching—not so much. And it quickly became a thing of nightmare for most of his fans online.

What is cup therapy?

A few hours ago, Anthony Joshua took to his Instagram account to share the clip in question, with the caption of the post reading “plant with success”. Meanwhile, in the clip, Joshua can be seen sitting upright with several bulbs stuck to his upper half. However, he didn’t seem to be in any sort of pain because of the bulbs.

According to some sources, cup therapy or cupping therapy is an ancient technique, which can be used to heal and ease pain. It involves a practitioner placing cups or bulbs on various parts of the body. These cups are vacuum sealed that results in the skin pulling upwards. Regardless, however, the whole thing managed to create new phobias in people watching.

Fan gets reminded of Mr. Miyagi

Since the clip went live, thousands of fans left a variety of comments on the post. One user couldn’t stand the sight of the cups sucking Joshua’s skin. The user wrote, “That looks seriously unpleasant lol”. While it may seem that way, many who have gone through it claim it’s refreshing.

Another user compared Joshua’s appearance to a vintage radio from the 1920s, humorously noting, “Looks like a 1920s radio!” That’s perhaps because of all the bulbs stuck to Joshua in lines.

Someone else thought Anthony Joshua looked rather appealing with the bulbs attached to him. The user wrote, “Only man in the world makes this looks sexy”. In all honesty, he doesn’t look bad, just looks like he is upgrading his power in a video game.

The next user might just have made the biggest mistake. The user wrote, “This gave me an immediate phobia”. Anthony Joshua might not have intended to do that.

Meanwhile, the image seems to have conjured up memories of ‘The Karate Kid’ in this user. “This is what Mr Miyagi used on Karate Kid so he can heal for the final battle”. Perhaps, just like in the movie, Joshua would come back to the ring much stronger to defeat his opponents.

Alright, most fans evidently aren’t big fans of the cupping therapy, but Anthony Joshua seems to be enjoying it. Hopefully, he gets rid of whatever pain he is recovering from, so fans can see him back in action. What did you think about the clip? Did you also squirm?
