Ryan Garcia has entered Barclay’s center for his much-anticipated fight against Devin Haney. In the last leg of his pre-fight verbal jabs at his opponent, the fighter wore a blue, full-sleeved t-shirt that read, “RIP Devin Haney… 1999-2024,” on the back. In the front, he outlined the mental state with which he intends to enter the ring. “Murder on my mind,” the shirt read.

Notice something off? Well, it’s not his goofiness that came across in his pre-fight dance. That fans have grown accustomed to in the days leading to the fight, given Garcia’s erratic social media posts.

It was in fact, the year of Haney’s birth. While the T-shirt said 1999, Haney was born in 1998, making him 25 years old. While ‘KingRy’ might have not realized the mistake even in his probable insult of his opponent, fans were quick to point it out. Michael Benson, the boxing reporter posted the video on his X feed.

While it might as well be a human error, anyone can get dates wrong, right? Fans took the opportunity to translate the goof-up into Garcia’s performance for the main event.

Ryan Garcia could’ve got the year right, at least

One fan pointed out the fallacy, point black. 1998, not 1999, KingRy!

Another user showed some concern. They were rooting for the fighter, but looking at how he could not even get his insult at Haney right, they were worried if he could even manage to damage his opponent inside the ring.

A keen observer looked beyond Ryan Garcia. They identified Derrick James, his trainer, looking possibly perplexed in the background by his shenanigans.

Another user used the opportunity to relay their predictions for the main event. Will Garcia get schooled tonight?
