Ryan Garcia has shared a new clip. It features him training alongside his brother Sean Garcia. However, a close perusal of the comments that subsequently flew in seems to suggest that not all fans and followers were convinced. The former interim lightweight champion has a momentous clash with Devin Haney on April 20 at New York’s Barclays Center.

The two will fight for Haney’s WBC light welterweight title. After last year’s loss to Gervonta Davis (now known as Abdul Wahid), ‘KingRy’ staged a comeback with a statement win over Oscar Duarte in December. Subsequent weeks unfolded talks and discussions to cement a fight deal with Team Haney.

Taking to his official X/Twitter handle, Ryan Garcia wrote, “SPEED = Power.” The footage opens with him looking at the camera and uttering, “I’m the embodiment of speed; I’m speed.” With that, he threw a quick jab at the mitt his younger brother Sean Garcia held at face level. Next, Garcia switched over to hitting a right cross. Three punches followed in quick succession. Then it was the turn of his famous left hook to the body. Change of hand, and the right hook took over. Then lead the upper cut to face, following which it was the right upper cut.

It would be interesting to see how Garcia applies the techniques against Devin Haney, given that both have known each other since their amateur days. Per the available reports, both fought each other six times, with the outcomes being split equally. Next weekend, they will be meeting for the seventh time.

The fight has already gained considerable attention for the young Californian’s online antics. In fact, at one point, when it peaked to such levels, quite a few voices erupted to review his mental fitness for the upcoming fight. Thankfully, with the fight date nearing, Garcia’s online activities witnessed a slimdown. Of late, he has been sharing training footage from the camp.

Ryan Garcia: Fans Check the Speedometer

One of the followers highlighted that the somber music playing in the background was from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky‘s ‘Hymn of the Cherubim’. More so, Garcia himself appeared serious and businesslike. But what about the followers? Did it resonate with them?

Every time a new tweet from Ryan Garcia appears, this user updates that his conviction about Devin Haney stopping Ryan Garcia early has only grown stronger.

Then this user seems convinced that Garcia still lacks power. Without power, speed remains meaningless, they posited.

According to this follower, speed doesn’t always translate into power. A person could be very quick and nimble-footed, but there are chances that he may not be swift at all, they said.

Likewise, this user lamented that ‘KingRy’ still appeared zoned out, unprepared. More so, the user could hardly see any power from the young boxer.

However, a fan mentioned that Ryan Garcia’s right hand looked very lethal. In all probability, Devin Haney would be taken down by the sixth round, as the fan seems to believe.

As in previous instances, once again, fans and followers appear concerned about Ryan Garcia’s defense. Haney might not be a heavy hitter, but still, a bit more focus on his high guard may benefit Garcia lest he slip, as happened in the fight with ‘Tank’.

The fight is crucial for ‘KingRy’. Nobody denies his ability to bring about and sell big paydays. However, a second defeat might raise a few questions. On the other hand, a win with a long-coveted world title will make a significant difference in terms of sealing his legacy as one of the ‘faces of boxing’.
