There have been rumors floating across the web, suggesting fight talks between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford have nearly reached the final stages. While nothing has been made official as of the time of writing, the eagerness among fans to see the potential fight unfold seems to have roped Floyd Mayweather into the mix.
‘Money’ Mayweather defeated ‘Cinnamon’ back in September 2013, which is one of the two red notches in Canelo’s decorated resume. Regardless, with the Canelo-Crawford fight rumors picking up steam, an alleged prediction from Mayweather has started making the rounds on social media. And fans have something to say about it!

Earlier today, a popular name in the boxing community, Ray Jackson, hopped on X to share the alleged prediction from Floyd Mayweather for the rumored Canelo-Crawford fight, which reports say may unfold in September in Las Vegas without any rehydration clause. Jackson’s tweet on X claimed that Mayweather picked Canelo to defeat Crawford easily.

“Breaking News ‼️ Floyd Money Mayweather picks Canelo Alvarez to beat Terence Crawford 😳😳,” he wrote. However, EssentiallySports could not verify the origins of this prediction from Mayweather. Regardless, the majority opinion in the community seems to favor Canelo slightly more to win the potential Crawford fight if it happens.
This is further bolstered by the fact that Crawford has to climb multiple weight classes just to be eligible to get in the ring with Canelo. And opponents who have done so in the past to fight Canelo have met with losses. Nonetheless, when fans discovered Jackson’s tweet, they all had similar things to say.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford prediction dismissed
Jackson isn’t the best source for updates about the sport. Naturally, fans were skeptical about the claims he was making through the tweet. One user outright refused to believe Mayweather would have said what Jackson was claiming. “I don’t think he said this lol,” the user wrote. While Mayweather might not have made a prediction, analyst Tim Bradley has. He said, “Crawford is about to beat the s**t out of Canelo Alvarez.”
The next user demanded proof of what Jackson was claiming. “Show some proof he said this otherwise this just for show,” the user wrote. However, Jackson has failed to provide a source for the prediction.

Someone else had the same issue with Jackson’s tweet. “Where’s the sources,” the user asked. While Mayweather has shared his predictions for Canelo’s prior fights, he has yet to share his thoughts on the Crawford fight.
Another user didn’t mince their words, claiming the prediction was fake. “This is fake Ray 😂🤣😂,” the user wrote. Interestingly enough, the fight’s fate is surrounded by uncertainty.

While others refused to believe the prediction, this user didn’t seem opposed to the idea. “It’s what makes most sense, he’s a business man cmon now 😆,” the user wrote. However, Mayweather could present an opposing prediction when he does.
That said, it appears that Ray Jackson has failed to convince his followers on X that Floyd Mayweather really predicted Canelo to win over Crawford. However, what do you think? Could Mayweather have made such a prediction?
