With the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight about to kick off at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Evander Holyfield found himself reflecting on his infamous rematch with Tyson during the broadcast. The moment sparked memories of their brutal ‘bite fight,’ but Holyfield’s response to the question at hand left the boxing world divided.

Earlier in the event, Lennox Lewis and Holyfield were discussing the fight, when Lewis brought up the notorious incident that led to Tyson being disqualified for biting Holyfield’s ear. Tyson was not only stripped of the win but also had his boxing license revoked and was fined $3 million for the shocking act.

It was later revealed that Tyson had become increasingly frustrated with Holyfield’s repeated headbutts, which the referee failed to call. During the broadcast, Lewis took the opportunity to probe Holyfield with an interesting question.

“Do you think [Mike] will bite [Jake’s] ear?” Holyfield, now on good terms with Tyson and even working as a business partner, responded without hesitation, “Nah I don’t think he’s gonna bite his ear. ” When Lewis pressed for an explanation, Holyfield added, “I think he is old enough not to do it.”

Paul and Tyson will fight in an eight-two-minute round fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. Despite Holyfield’s calm response, fans seem to be hoping for something more dramatic, eager for a repeat of the drama that defined the legendary pair’s rivalry.

Fan speculates what happens if Jake Paul does it instead

With the drama that has unfolded in the past around the fight, it didn’t take long for the conversation between Lews and Holyfield to go viral. One user speculated on what if the opposite happens. The user wrote, “What if Jake bites Mike’s ear? 🤔.” Compared to his mindset during the Holyfield fight, Tyson is much calmer, so such an incident is unlikely to happen again.

Another user felt that Holyfield was wrong. The user wrote, “You’re wrong Holyfield. Mike can bite his ear 😂😂.” If Jake Paul does something that Mike Tyson doesn’t approve of, it could definitely happen.

Meanwhile, someone else felt Tyson was old enough to know better even back then. The user wrote, “Back then he was as old enough to know not to do it so I hope he does it again but goes in for the bite and instead punches Jake and then bites his ear off😂.” Notably, Tyson was 36 when he fought Holyfield for the second time. Today he is 58.

The next user had another idea behind Lewis’ question. The user commented, “Lennox is drunk 😂.” There’s no evidence to back that claim. However, Lennox Lewis was at his humours best. Meanwhile, a user believed that Mike Tyson could easily bite off Paul’s ear. The user commented, “Off course big yes.” However, since it’s a sanctioned professional fight, so there could be some serious repercussions if that happens.
