Amir Khan retired from the sport of boxing in 2022. However, the former unified light-welterweight world champion is still a prevalent figure in the sport. Apart from being a fierce competitor in boxing, Khan is a very selfless and altruistic individual. He also kickstarted the “Amir Khan foundation” which is an NGO assisting those who are in need.

Recently, a watch was stolen from him in London but the boxer was able to track it down and get it back with the help of the police.

On Twitter, the former boxer announced that he would be auctioning off his watch and forwarding the proceedings of the auction to charity. In the video released he stated, ” I got my watch back now. I want to thank the MET police. I am going to give it to charity now. So whatever I get for this I am gonna auction it. I am gonna give it to charity.” He then adds, “It is going to help the less needy people around the world.” The video received a lot of attention from the boxing world which sparked some interesting reactions.

Fans applaud Amir Khan for his decision to auction his watch for charity

A watch was stolen from Khan but fortunately, the Metropolitan police were able to track it down and hand it back to him. Though, Khan decided to sell off the watch and give it to charity.

In a tweet, he stated, A big Thank you to the @METPoliceUKRP & flying squad for getting my watch back and finding the robbers. I’d like to auction my watch and raise funds for the less fortunate and also give a donation towards gun & knife crime in UK.”

This action by Khan is laudable. Not only will the awareness of gun & knife crime in the UK will increase but also it will help the foundation achieve its goal. The fans, at large, were impressed by the course of action chosen by Khan.

One fan did not like Khan’s choice of words. @WLU147: “Think you mean the ‘less fortunate’ not the ‘less needy’ Amir. Big difference.”

Though, on the contrary, one fan had nothing but praise for the former boxer. @m_elnaiem: “Thanks for the donation Amir Khan, we really appreciate it. Thanks for supporting gun and knife crime in the UK, because of supporters like you, we can continue to take from the less needy”

Another fan was too proud of Khan. @SQ03618134: “Probably the best representative of British Pakistani Muslims in history”

Another fan expressed his concern about the crime rates in London. @Dr_Alan_Harper: “Recently spoke to someone who had their eye socket permanently damaged by two thugs forcefully trying to take their Rolex using a hammer in London. The capital city is a joke, should never have happened.”

Lastly, one fan named @Patron_MUFC stated, “Champ wants to donate towards gun and knife crime. Fair enough x”
