It was a classic, two fighters going for the skill, trying to showcase how one of them deserved to edge over the other. The two had fought it back in February, drawing the same scores across all judges’ scorecards and taking home a draw. When Tony Aguilar and Corey Marksman ran it back this time, it was the latter who edged past the other, amassing fans’ accolades for their performance. But what seized the headlines was the scoring in the fight, which fans found lacking.
Marksman improved his record to 10-0-1, as he picked up the victory, sweeping the judges’ scorecards with a majority decision, with two judges scoring in his favor at 77-75, 78-74, and one solitary judge at 76-76.

Lots of punches were thrown, but none of them landed, and that was the theme that ran throughout the fight. And they didn’t shy away from exchanging blows. But Marksman dictated the face of the fight initially and found Aguilar’s skin more often, even bursting open his nose. Aguilar came alive in the middle rounds, threatening to run away from the fight. In addition, Marksman also seemed to have lost some steam towards the later rounds. However, he hung around and did enough, being the busier fighter, to rack up the win.
In the post-fight interview, Marksman expressed his willingness to fight on the November Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card, indicating his zeal to move in the ranks swiftly and attract the limelight. The fans flooded the comment section, as they debated the discrepancy in the judges’ scoring.
Fans outrage over judges’ scoring
One fan pointed out that it was an easy win for Marksman, but they disagreed with the judge scoring it even. They believed Marksman was the runaway winner, with him dominating the larger patches in the fight. They declared, “Easy win by Corey marksman I don’t know who was on the scorecards but they need to be fired. This was clearly a cakewalk. For Corey.”
