Early last year, Shakur Stevenson was poised for a potential fight with Gervonta Davis. The prospect of the fight had fans as well as boxing experts excited. However, after various twists and turns the fight fell apart. Davis has yet to return to the ring after his fight with Ryan Garcia last year. Meanwhile, Stevenson too had a fight last year against Edwin De Los Santos. However, the fight was panned as boring therefore further diminishing the possibility of the bout with Davis taking place.

However, the question of the highly anticipated fight was raised once again prompting a flurry of responses from fans, each picking a certain side.

Even though the fight has a low probability of getting materialized, especially after Shakur Stevenson announced his retirement early this month, the prospect of the fight was certainly interesting. It was Boxing Kingdom that took up the task of posing the question to the boxing world. They made a post on Twitter asking fans their opinion about the hypothetical fight.

They shared a fictional poster for the fight, asking, “Gervonta vs Shakur fight poster. Who wins this?” The picture in the poster even quoted a statement from Shawn Porter, who called it, “The best fight in boxing.” So how did the fans feel about this anticipated fight?

Fans divided on the hypothetical matchup

The recent release of the poster sparked heated debate among boxing fans. One fan shared his prediction for the fight and wrote, “Shakur by points, but Tank got precision and power. Only one way to find out.”

Another fan claimed that Stevenson would defeat Davis, provided he fights like Floyd Mayweather fought Canelo Alvarez. He stated, “If @ShakurStevenson stand in the pocket and fight Tank like Floyd did Canelo then I pick Shakur. If Shakur fight Tank like he did Edwin De La Santos then he loses like Jamaine Ortiz because Tank is more popular.”

Meanwhile, a fan predicted an easy win for Davis. The fan claimed, “Tank knocks him out, Shakur is pillowfisted and scared to get hit. Tank walks him down and stops him from what I see.”

Someone else jokingly remarked, “Shakur will win by landing 4 random jabs a round and the running laps back and forth to avoid tanks power.”

Another fan pointed out how difficult it is to land a punch on Stevenson. He predicted, “Shakur on points.”
