Meeting Mike Tyson is the ultimate dream for many boxing fans, though only a select few ever get the opportunity. Comedian and actor Chevy Chase, however, had a chance encounter with Tyson that most fans can only fantasize about. If that wasn’t enough—the former SNL alumni even got to kiss ‘Iron’ Mike’s head and get away with it, leaving fans reeling from the encounter.
Filterman Sports Group, a sports memorabilia store in League City, Texas, hosted an event featuring both Tyson and Chase, where they signed memorabilia for fans. During the event, these legends from their respective fields crossed paths and shared a few words. Tyson later took to social media to share their memorable encounter.

In a surprising twist, the Caddyshack actor revealed that he also grew up in Harlem, where he often had to outrun young troublemakers and got into a few scrapes himself—though, as he humorously noted, nothing compared to Tyson’s battles growing up. This revelation caught Tyson off guard, as he hadn’t known about Chase’s Harlem roots.
Tyson later shared the clip with his fans, captioning the post, “Always great speaking with legendary actor @chevychase. Had no idea he was from Harlem.” The sight of these two unlikely New Yorkers bonding over their beginnings sparked a flurry of reactions in the comment section.

Fan mistakes Chase for an old lady
What people love the most is their favorite icons getting together, and this encounter filled all the boxes for people to get excited. One well-informed user shared some Chevy Chase history, writing, “Chevy Chase’s family has been in NYC since 1624 – then it was known as New Amsterdam.” New York was indeed originally called New Amsterdam. It was founded by the Dutch in 1626, before being renamed after the Duke of York.
The next user seemed jealous of Chase, who got to kiss Tyson’s head. The user asked, “How many people get to kiss Mike Tyson’s head and get away with it?” Well, not many except his wife and kids, we presume.

Another user had initially failed to recognize Chevy Chase. “I thought it was an old lady! Lol,” the user remarked. Since Chase was primarily in movies during the 1980s and 90s, it’s not surprising that some people might not recognize him right away.
Someone else seemed excited to see the duo pair up for the first time. The user wrote, “Omg a Chevy Chase and Mike Tyson duo is the TEAM UP I didn’t know I ALWAYS wanted!” The duo must have quite some stories to exchange that can make for an interesting podcast.
