Drake’s impact has reached the boxing world, and its downside is being faced by Tyson Fury. The WBC heavyweight champion who is preparing the best for his career’s biggest challenge has faced the wrath of fans for not just roping in Drake in his recent social media post but also for his physique.

On the 18th of May, the English heavyweight will enter the ring after a period swamped with criticism. His last fight against Francis Ngannou, despite the win, was not the best for him, image-wise. Boxing critics noticed that the fighter was not in his best shape and lacked the tenacity, he once brought to the ring. Now, when he is all set to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the historic undisputed title, the shadows of such criticism have not left him.

A week ahead of his Riyadh clash against Usyk, ‘The Gypsy King’ posted images of how fit he looks. On Instagram, a proud-looking Tyson Fury posted an image of him flexing his shredded physique adorned with a smile that could be his confidence for the big night. In captions, he wrote, “Undisputed incoming [hundred emoji] [tick emoji] 18/5/24.” The post carried in the background Drake’s 2018 massive hit song, “God’s Plan,” which perhaps, the fighter was using to insinuate the supposed predetermined nature of his victory in the upcoming clash against Usyk.

The post by the heavyweight might have been intended to instill a sense of confidence among his fans. After all, he is going after the undisputed status that has been unheld since 1999. However, the post quickly became a stage of criticism directed at the heavyweight and Drake, too.

“Shape Shape”

One among the multiple fans who were impressed by the shredded look of the fighter was someone who could not contain their excitement. They wrote, “Champ in shape shape!”

Another user, while impressed that Fury had lost some considerable amount of weight, was unimpressed that he shrunk to that extent. Pointedly, they wrote, “You no longer have dad body, you got mom body.”

A fan roped in the pop star in their commentary. While they did not comment on his body, the choice of song and artist caused some alarm. They noted, “Drake = automatic defeat,” in a clear reference to the recent rap beef surrounding Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which according to many Lamar seems to be winning.

Then came the folks who thrive on theories. They suggested that the only way he could get into that shape so quickly was by “juicing.” They quipped, “Back on the juice again only way he was getting back in shape.”

Then came a user who exaggerated not just a bit. They explained that the Drake music in this post would not work great for the fighter. They wrote, “Damn why u’re playing drake, you have summoned the curse upon you my son,” referring to the popular belief prevalent in the combat world that whoever Drake bets on loses on fight night.
