Who did it better? Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua! Back in 2021, ‘AJ’ took on Oleksandr Usyk and lost via unanimous decision. The very next year, the Englishman took another shot at the Ukrainian but lost again. Fast forward to 2024, Usyk defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ via a split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
While Usyk managed to score a knockdown against Fury, against Joshua, no such thing happened! So, in hindsight, AJ might seem better than Fury, right? Or is it the other way around? That was the debate among fans after an X post from IFL TV revealed the side-by-side comparison of the stats between Joshua and Fury during their respective fights against the Ukrainian boxing legend.
Turning to X yesterday, IFL TV compared Joshua’s 2022 fight against Usyk with the Usyk-Fury bout that unfolded last weekend. They highlighted some fascinating numbers. Usyk managed to land precisely the same number of punches (170) against Fury as he did in his rematch against Joshua. However, what’s truly intriguing is that he threw a staggering 305 fewer punches (407) against Fury compared to his showdown with Joshua (712).

Meanwhile, in the bout against AJ, Usyk connected with 131 power punches, whereas against Fury, he landed just 122. Against Fury, he did deliver 48 jabs, nine more than the 39 he managed against Joshua in their rematch.
Fury, on the other hand, significantly outperformed Joshua in terms of punches landed against Usyk. ‘The Gypsy King’ connected with 157 more punches compared to Joshua’s 124, despite both fighters throwing a similar number of punches. Fury unleashed 496 punches during the fight, slightly more than Joshua’s 492.
Tyson Fury managed to land 62 jabs on Usyk, a considerable 39 more than Joshua’s 23. However, AJ did make an impact with power punches, landing 101 on Usyk, which was six more than Tyson’s 96. Seeing the comparison unfold, fans quickly drew their own conclusion about who was the better boxer and who would emerge victorious if AJ and Fury fought.
