Gervonta Davis, the three-weight-class world champion is set to defend his WBA title against unbeaten Hector Luis Garcia, who is moving up in weight class for the first time to accomplish the goal of winning a title at 135 pounds weight category. No doubt, Davis is the favorite for the showdown but Garcia has made it clear in the latest back-and-forth at the press conference on Thursday that he is ready to pull an upset win.

Before the duo goes head-to-head at Capital One Arena in Washington, the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney made a big statement about Davis’s opponent. Haney was not quite appreciative of Garcia’s boxing acumen as he recounted the time he sparred with him.

“I sparred him. He is a tuner. I kicked him out of the camp because he couldn’t last. I sparred with JoJo Diaz. I sparred with him two times or three times and he doesn’t keep up so I kicked him out”, Haney said.

Haney is coming out of a big win over former unified champion George Kambosos Jr in the rematch and is eager to face Davis.

Davis has two fights in a row. If everything goes well on January 7 then he will most likely face his fiercest rival till date, Ryan Garcia. It is not clear when they will meet but reports claim they will square off sometime in April.

Therefore, the most anticipated fight in the lightweight division hinges upon Davis’ victory over Garcia
