It’s been three months since millions saw the spectacle at the legendary Cowboys Stadium. Jake Paul is back in the news now. When a much-anticipated showdown with Canelo Alvarez appeared on the horizon, for a moment it appeared ‘The Problem Child’ would pull off yet another mega show, that too within the first half of the year! Diehards nevertheless had the last laugh. As the dust settled, it became clear that the YouTuber-turned-boxer may not have the privilege of fighting the ‘face of boxing.’ But what about Mike Tyson?

During the post-fight discussions, to everyone’s shock, the former heavyweight champion had seemingly called out Logan Paul. Thankfully, the move didn’t cause much of a stir. The boxing great recently sat down with the host of ‘The Sean Hannity Show’, Sean Hannity, on FOX Nation’s newest program ‘Sean’ and discussed in detail his ring return, its prelude, and its aftermath. One of the most intriguing aspects of the Jake Paul fight remains the ‘slap-gate.’ Tyson revealed the reasons behind his loss of composure, leading to the viral moment that became the talk of the town.

Like many, Hannity was also ‘stunned’ by Mike Tyson’s decision to fight Jake Paul. The sheer age gap and Tyson’s medical condition aggravated the concerns. “I was stunned when you decided to fight Jake Paul. This will be the fight of a lifetime, 58 years old,” the Fox News host pondered.

The decision seems to have left even Mike Tyson perplexed. He revealed asking his wife Lakiha Spicer, “Why’d I do that for?” Over an array of topics that ranged from Tyson’s health issues to memory loss or his own contractual obligations to the fight, Sean Hannity asked, “Now, the lead-up to the fight is awesome because it was the day before, or two days before, or whatever it was, and you slapped him.

I didn’t mean to do that,” boxing’s youngest heavyweight champion clarified. “You – you didn’t mean it? It just came out of you?” Hannity continued. According to Tyson, Jake Paul’s stepping on his foot triggered the reaction: “He stepped on my foot.”

The lingering sound of a hit

The incident took place ahead of the fight night, on Thursday. Following their final weigh-ins, both Mike Tyson and Jake Paul proceeded to their final stare-down. Mike Tyson recorded a weight of 233 pounds, while Jake Paul tipped the scales at a career-high 220 pounds.

To stir things up, Jake Paul suddenly jumped forward from a crouched position to get right in Mike Tyson’s face but ended up stepping on Tyson’s foot. Perhaps the move was meant to annoy Tyson and hype the moment more intensely before they exchanged jabs. But the drama backfired.

Thankfully, security intervened on time before the situation went out of hand. When Ariel Helwani tried to retrieve some answers, Tyson walked away with his entourage.

But Jake Paul didn’t hide his feelings: “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f**k out… it’s personal now.
