“That’s one of the things that you know, has been written down. So we’ll have to see with everything.” That’s what Ryan Garcia’s father, Henry Garcia, said just two days ago in a candid interview with Fight Hub TV when asked about the lawsuit filed by Devin Haney. If you remember the chaos after their fight at Barclays Center last April, you know how things spiraled. Ryan dropped Haney to the canvas three times and initially won by unanimous decision, but officials overturned the victory after he tested positive for the banned substance PED, Ostarine. The NYSAC ruled the fight a no contest and handed Garcia a one-year suspension. Plus a lawsuit from Haney, accusing him of fraud, breach of contract, and battery in the U.S. District Court in New York. And now, there’s few latest updates to the drama.

Nearly a year later, just as the Fatal Fury event starts gaining traction, The Dream recently gave a clear ultimatum. “We do a fight, then it won’t be no lawsuit. We’ll drop the lawsuit.” Through the temporary settlement, settle it in the ring, and all’s forgiven. It seemed like the only way for KingRy to get past the lawsuit was to finish the business with Devin Haney anyhow. But in a recent update, it looks like the Victorville native didn’t have to wait too long for some relief.

Earlier today, Brunch Boxing came with a huge update. ‼️ 🍨 Scoop Alert,” the caption read. According to recent court updates, Devin Haney’s legal team just told the judge that mediation worked out. On top of it, both sides have pretty much reached a resolution. “Devin Haney’s counsel has reported to the court that court mediation was successful and that the lawsuit against Ryan García has been resolved,” the post read.

No major courtroom battles, no drawn-out drama. Just some behind-the-scenes talks that actually worked out. Now, by May 16, 2025, Haney’s team either has to officially file to dismiss the lawsuit (without prejudice, meaning they could bring it back if they want) or give the court an update on where things stand.

“By May 16, 2025 counsel shall file either their dismissal without prejudice or a status report letter as to their settlement, as ordered by Judge Frederic Block on 4/16/2025,” it read. So in short? Things are wrapping up between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia legally. It’s not 100% done just yet, but the gloves are basically off—at least in court. But don’t get it twisted. Just because the lawsuit might be wrapping up doesn’t mean Devin Haney’s going to take it easy on Ryan Garcia.

In a conversation with the Ring Magazine, the 31-0, 15 KO boxer stated, “Over the last few months, we’ve been looking at the Garcia fight and some of the obvious mistakes I made and perfecting those so I can be a better fighter.” With a potential rematch looming in the background, Haney seems laser-focused on growth and redemption. “Seems like I haven’t had a victory in a little while now,” he admitted. “I’m just looking to go in there and win.”

As for Ryan Garcia, if he wants to prove that first fight wasn’t a fluke, he’s going to have to deliver another standout performance when they meet again. But for now, both men seem fully focused on their current opponents. And in case you’re wondering whether that legal update is just another rumor—nope, it’s real. Let’s how.

Ryan Garcia believes his hands speak louder than words

It looks like Ryan Garcia’s freedom didn’t come without a price. According to reports, he had to forfeit $1.2 million from his purse and pay a $10,000 fine as part of his settlement with the NYSAC. On top of that, he had to pass a drug test to prove he was clean and ready for reinstatement. But now, with those hurdles behind him, the 26-year-old seems relieved and ready to turn the page.

On April 20, 2025, Ryan Garcia took to X and posted, “Wow my suspension officially is lifted on Easter super cool.” Now that felt like a sign from above. As a devout Christian, Easter is sacred; it marks the day Jesus came back to life.

He followed it up with, “All glory to Jesus ✝️.” But beyond the fines and suspensions, 24-1, 20 KO boxer had also fought a quieter battle—mentally. A few days ago, he tweeted, “People real mad I made the mental comeback, I’m really a dog tho. My hands are crazy in a real way,” letting everyone know he’s back and he’s feeling dangerous.

So now that he’s stress-free and locked in, the big question is: can Ryan Garcia knockout Rolly Romero next? And if he does, will he have enough in the tank to drop Devin Haney again in a possible rematch? Do let us know your thoughts with us below.
